Christchurch is my home

In the sky
on the runway
planes sometimes take us off
to other places.

But when I stand
on the stones of the Waimakariri
the line squeaks
while the fish tries to escape.

As I walk down the
footpaths
I smell chips
from the fish and chip shop.

On frosty mornings
the rugby ball flies from player to player
and my family is cheering on the sideline.

In the distance,
Castle Rock
stands tall.

Christchurch is my home.

  1. Wow Charlie what a powerful piece of writing. I could really connect when you said "in the sky on the runway" that really sent me to another place well done.
